Staff of the Laloki Mental Hospital outside Port Moresby pictured with Sir Peter Barter, 3rd from right whilst he was Minister for Health with Nigel on his immediate right who was undergoing treatment for drug abuse.

Laloki Hospital is the only specialised hospital in PNG.  The hospital is in a very run down condition, chronically underfunded and in bad state of repair.

Dr Bob Giles providing voluntary heart sugery to Robinson Asotau, the former Secretary of the BRA on Bougainville.

The surgery was arranged by Alex Watson who has worked tirelessly to train and repair medical equipment throughout PNG.

Dr Giles is a respected heart surgeon based at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.  Both Dr Giles and the Easter Heart Clinic provided free surgery and hospitalisation and the foundation arranged all travel and accommodation in Sydney.

This youth was spotted by Sir Peter Barter at Matoka in the remote mountains of the Finnisterre Mountains.

Upon showing the picture to a group of surgeons, they immediately took on the task of rectifying the hairlip and a dental surgeon took care of the teeth.  All services were provided free and transport to and from the Hospital was carried out in the Foundation's helicopter.

The youth is now 20, happily maried and remains at Matoka Village.

The 3F Foundation donated 300 wheelchairs to the disbaled winessed by HE Leslie Rowe, the US Ambassador to PNG.

The Melanesian Foundation in cooperation of the Divne Word University arranged the presentation on campus and both DWU and the Melanesian Foundation distributed the chairs to most disabled organisations in Papua New Guinea.

In late 2007, the US Peliu visited Madang to undertake a series of medical and humanitarian projects in the Madang Province which included work on Miak, Josephstaal, Ileg, Bunabun and Modilon Hospital as well as various road and educational projects throughout the Province.

Mass immunization was carried out at Josephstaal and Kar Kar and a number of complicated surgical operations were carried out both aboard the US Peleiu and at Modlion Hospital.  A mobile dental surgery was established at various centres throughout the Province for people to see dental work by expert dentists.

A further visit is planned in 2008.

The picture shows the Commander of the US Pelieu, Sir Peter Barter and Her Excellency Leslie Rowe at a commemorative park erected to thank the people of America for their assistance.
