BASAMUK HEALTH CENTRE AND VCT This project is yet to begin. The National Government have contributed K200,000 which is held in trust by the Melanesian Foundation which is in sufficient for the project to be initiated. It is estimated that the project will cost more than K1m and we are hopeful that further funds will be ade available from the National and or Provincial Government and the MCC who have agree in principal to provide funding and health services to the people living at the mine site and those living in nearby villages.
The project will consist of a Health Centre, three houses for health staff plus an ambulance and other hospital equipment. When funds are made available, a contract will be released to enable the construction to begin, until then the funds will continue to be held in trust.
